Below are the services and packages we offer to support you with your Disability Living Allowance Application. 

All work listed within each package is included within the total price. Any work outside of the chosen package is chargeable at our hourly rate of £40 per hour, unless otherwise agreed. 

No additional work will be completed without prior agreement and a clear quote.

Where Compass Advocacy SEND is already, or has previously been, involved with your family, relevant information gained through previous advocacy work, meetings or professional discussions may also be incorporated where appropriate. 

Disability Living Allowance - New Claim Complete Application Package

A complete application service for parents and carers making a new DLA claim for a child.

This package includes:

• Initial consultation to discuss your child's needs, difficulties and day-to-day support requirements.
• Review of relevant supporting evidence provided by you.
• Completion of the full DLA form on your behalf.
• Detailed written examples throughout the form to demonstrate the level of help, supervision, prompting and support your child requires.  
• Consideration of both care and mobility needs, where applicable.
• Identification of any areas where further evidence may strengthen the application.
• Preparation of supporting statement on professional headed paper, where appropriate.
• Final review of the completed application before it is returned to you for approval.
• Following your feedback, ONE round of amendments to the form if required.
• Guidance on submitting the completed form and supporting evidence. 

You will be asked to provide accurate information about your child and their needs, together with any relevant reports, assessments, letters or other supporting evidence. 

The completed application will be based on the information and evidence provided and will aim to create a clear, detailed and accurate picture of your child's needs compared with those of the same age without a disability or health condition.

Disability Living Allowance - Renewal Complete Application Package

A complete application service for parents and carers completing a DLA renewal for a child. 

This package includes:

• Initial consultation to discuss your child's current needs, difficulties and day-to-day support requirements. 
• Review of the previous DLA award and any relevant supporting evidence provided. 
• Consideration of any changes in your child's needs since the previous application.
• Completion of the full DLA renewal form on your behalf.
• Detailed written examples to demonstrate the help, supervision, prompting and support your child currently requires.
• Consideration of both care and mobility needs, where applicable. 
• Identification of any areas where updated or additional evidence may strengthen the renewal.
• Preparation of a supporting statement on professional headed paper, where appropriate.
• Final review of the completed renewal before it is returned to you for approval. 
• Following your feedback, ONE round of amendments to the form, if required.
• Guidance on submitting the completed form and supporting evidence. 

The renewal will be based on your child's current needs, rather than simply repeating the previous application. Where needs have changed, these will be clearly reflected within the form.

You will be asked to provide accurate information about your child and any relevant reports, assessments, letters or other supporting evidence available.

Disability Living Allowance - Change of Circumstances Complete Application Package

A complete application service for parents and carers reporting a significant change in their child's care or mobility needs.

This package includes:

• Initial consultation to discuss what has changed and how your child's current needs differ from those considered in their current DLA form.
• Review of the current DLA award, previous application where available, and relevant supporting evidence. 
• Identification of the changes that may be relevant to the child's care and/or mobility needs.
• Completion of the appropriate DLA Change of Circumstances form, or written notification on your behalf. 
• Detailed written examples showing the child's current level of help, supervision, prompting and support. 
• Clear explanation of when the changes occurred and how they affect your child day to day.
• Review of any new diagnoses, assessments, reports, professional input or other evidence that supports the change. 
• Identification of any additional evidence that may strengthen the application. 
• Preparation of a supporting statement on professional headed paper, where appropriate.
• Final review of the completed form before it is returned to you for approval. 
• Following your feedback, ONE round of amendments to the form, if required.
• Guidance on submitting the completed form and supporting evidence. 

This application will focus on your child's current needs and the changes since their existing award, rather than simply repeating information from the previous claim. 

You will be asked to provide accurate information about the change in circumstances, including when the changes began and any relevant supporting evidence available.

Typical Turnaround: 7-10 working days following deposit and receipt of ALL evidence and information. 

Disability Living Allowance - Complete Mandatory Reconsideration Package.

 A complete support package for parents and carers who disagree with a DLA decision and want to ask the Department for Work and Pensions to reconsider it. 

This package is suitable where a DLA claim has been refused, awarded at a lower rate than expected, or where parts of the award do not accurately reflect your child's care or mobility needs. This can be used following a new claim, renewal or change of circumstances.

Please note, you will need to call DLA following award and request a 'statement of reasons' be sent in the post. This will allow us to understand how the DWP reached their decision and give us a starting point for disagreeing and requesting review. 

This package includes:

• Review of the DLA decision letter and reasons given for the decision (statement of reasons).
• Review of the original DLA application, where available. 
• Review of relevant supporting evidence, including reports, assessments, letters, education documents and professional evidence. 
• Identification of the areas of the decision that may not accurately reflect your child's needs. 
• A consultation to discuss the decision, your child's current needs and any relevant information that may not have been fully considered.
• Consideration of the level, frequency and duration of care, prompting, supervision or assistance your child requires.
• Consideration of mobility needs, where relevant.
• Comparison  of your child's needs with those of a child of the same age without a disability or health condition. 
• Identification of any gaps in the evidence or areas where further information may strengthen the reconsideration request. 
• Preparation of a detailed written Mandatory Reconsideration submission setting out why the decision should be reconsidered.
• Clear reference to relevant evidence and examples to support the points raised. 
• Final review of the submission before it is returned to you for approval. 
• Following your feedback, ONE round of amendments to the statement, if required.
• Guidance on submitting the completed statement and supporting evidence. 

This package does not guarantee that the decision will be changed, but it is designed to ensure that the reconsideration request clearly explains the areas of disagreement and presents the strongest relevant information and evidence available.

Disability Living Allowance - Supportive Statement Package

A detailed supporting statement designed to accompany a new DLA claim, renewal, change of circumstances or Mandatory Reconsideration. 

This package is suitable for parents and carers who have completed, or have substantially completed, their own DLA form but would benefit from a professionally written statement that brings together their child's needs in a clear, structured and detailed way.

This package includes:

• Review of your completed, or substantially completed DLA form.
• Review of relevant supporting evidence, including reports, assessments, letters, education documents and professional evidence. 
• A focused consultation to clarify information contained within the form and evidence and explore any areas requiring further detail.
• Consideration of how your child's needs differ from those of a child the same age without a disability or health condition.
• Preparation of a detailed 3-5 page supporting statement tailored to your child and the circumstances of their DLA application.
• Where relevant, consideration of care, supervision, communication, behaviour, emotional regulation, sensory needs, safety, personal care, toileting, sleep, mobility and support required within education or the wider community.
• Final quality check of the completed supporting statement before it is returned to you.
• Following your feedback, ONE round of amendments to the statement, if required.
• Guidance on submitting the completed statement and supporting evidence. 

This package is available to both existing and new clients. You do not need to be receiving any other advocacy or SEND support from Compass Advocacy SEND to access this service. 

This supporting Statement Package does not include completion or amendment of your DLA application form. If your form requires substantial amendments or additional support, this will be discussed with you before any additional support is undertaken.
