We offer a range of support with Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment requests, whether you are preparing a request yourself or would like us to complete it with you. Our packages are designed to make sure the request clearly explains your child or young person's needs, the support already in place and why an EHC Needs Assessment may be necessary.

All work listed within each package is included within the total price. Any work outside of the chosen package is chargeable at our hourly rate of £45 per hour, unless otherwise agreed. 

No additional work will be completed without prior agreement and a clear quote.

Where Compass Advocacy SEND is already, or has previously been, involved with your family, relevant information gained through previous advocacy work, meetings or professional discussions may also be incorporated where appropriate. 

Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment - Review your Completed Request

This package is suitable for parents and carers who have already completed, or substantially completed, their own request for an EHC Needs Assessment, and would like it reviewed before submission. 

This package includes:

• Review of your completed EHC Needs Assessment Request.
• Review of relevant supporting evidence provided with the request.
• A focused consultation to discuss your child or young person's needs, clarify anything contained within the request or evidence, and explore any areas requiring further detail.
• Consideration of whether the request clearly explains your child or young person's special educational needs.
• Review of the support already in place and whether this has been clearly evidenced.
• Consideration of whether the request demonstrates why the child or young person may require provision through an EHCP.
• Identification of gaps, unclear wording or areas where further detail may strengthen the request. 
• Suggested amendments to improve clarity, structure and evidential strength.
• Review of whether relevant professional evidence has been appropriately referenced within the request. 
• Written feedback and recommended amendments. 
• Final review of any agreed amendments before submission.

This service is a review and amendment package rather than a full request-writing service. Where substantial rewriting or additional work is required, this will be discussed with you before any further work is undertaken.

Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment - Complete Request

This package is suitable for parents and carers who would like support preparing a full request for an EHC Needs Assessment from the beginning. 

This package includes:

• Initial consultation to discuss your child or young person's needs, current difficulties and support in place.
• Review of relevant supporting evidence, including school records, reports, assessments, professional letters and existing support plans.
• Identification of the key areas of special educational need to be included within the request.
• Consideration of the support already being provided and whether it is sufficient to meet need.
• Detailed explanation of why an EHC Needs Assessment may be necessary.
• Preparation of the full parent/carer request for assessment.
• Clear reference to relevant evidence throughout the request.
• Inclusion of examples showing how your child or young person's needs affect their education and day-to-day school experience.
• Consideration of progress, attainment, attendance, exclusions, emotional wellbeing, communication, sensory needs, behaviour and any other relevant areas.
• Identification of any gaps in the available evidence or areas where further information may strengthen the request.
• Final review of the completed request before it is returned to you for approval. 
• Following your feedback, ONE round of amendments to the request, if necessary.
• Guidance on submitting the request and supporting evidence to the Local Authority.
